Teams to launch 2010 cars simultaneously?

Well, if this ends up being true, it’ll rather take away the fun of that January/February time (when this site is the busiest!) of looking forward to each individual launch and posting about it. However, I suspect we’ll still get hints and glimpses of various colour schemes in the build-up to such an event if it does happen (for example, the planned “launch” of Virgin Racing on Tuesday, even if it’s not a car launch, should give us an idea), and this site will continue to keep abreast of any such developments as and when they happen.

Furthermore, there’ll be more article-length content on the way in the meantime – I’ve got my first guest contribution to post shortly, and I’m also planning to do a couple of posts speculating on possible colour schemes for all 13 teams on the 2010 grid. So keep watching!

(and while we’re on the subject of F1 news, the new points system? I heartily approve – with this many teams on the grid, expanding the rewards down to 10th place makes perfect sense. Next season already looks cracking, I can’t wait!)

I disagree with the new points system. However, it would be fun to see your predictions about liveries, particularly those of the new teams. I doubt you can come up with something very original for Ferrari, though.

Keep up the good work, Seb, I’ll keep following this site!

It’s a real shame about the joint launch, my favourite thing about the pre season is seeing all the new liveries, but if we get them all at the same time it won’t be such fun.

Also, Lotus released their new logo today- it’s green and yellow, and Tony Fernandes hinted that the livery will be too

I’m a big fan of a points sytem that rewards all finishers. Why should a brilliant drive from second last on the grid to one spot outside the points be worth the same as trudging around in last position 5 secs per lap off the pace – i.e. zero?

The Lotus logo has to be the most uninspiring log in the world ever. Clearly Malaysia is the land that graphic design forgot.

I think the joint launch is brilliant – will be like being kids in a candy store for livery anoraks like us!!

“The Lotus logo has to be the most uninspiring log in the world ever. Clearly Malaysia is the land that graphic design forgot.”

At first I couldn’t beleive someone would think this, lol. Then I realised maybe the F1 team has made a new logo. A quick search showed me they have and its true its a bit urmm.. generic. Does this mean they don’t have the rights to use the Lotus logo? It will be a shame if the cars don’t have it on the nose.

Gareth, I think you mean the new Lotus F1Racing logo right?, not the Lotus logo, which is obviously iconic and created before graphic design existed and probably before malaysia did too.

Seb, its good to see the site being updated again. Nice article too. Did you think about putting the 1995 Pacific Team Lotus Livery in there? I know its 23rd on your favourite list, Its one of my favourites too. And at least they could use the proper Lotus logo.

‘Gareth, I think you mean the new Lotus F1Racing logo right?’

    Correct – this one: [img][/img]

Maybe I was too harsh – the three boxes, two green, one yellow – draws on the classic Lotus livery of the 60s which is nice. Other than that, it’s a little uninspiring isn’t it?

    Three more bits of news:

    1. The simultaneous launch plan is on the verge of collapse. A good thing in my opinion

    2. It seems as though Mercedes could well be painted silver and turquoise next season, as they have signed Petronas as title sponsor

    3. At their recent prelimnary launches, Virgin announced their 2010 livery would be black and red, while Lotus hinted theirs would be traditional green and yellow
