1970: Yardley Team BRM

After Lotus, the next team to make a major shift away from British Racing Green were BRM. Initially they switched to a slightly bluer shade of green, before taking on their first major sponsorship deal with Yardley in 1970. It’s the first F1 livery to really make use of patterned lines, rather than simply blocks of colour, and its asymmetric look is very ahead of its time.
